HPS DRONE COMPETITIONS
Sponsor/Advisor: Emrah Kemer
Requirements: 4th-5th Grade
Fee: $200
Meetings: Thursdays, 3:10PM-4:40PM
Purpose: HPS-wide Competition - Presented in partnership with FTW Robotics and Rice University, HPS Drone Race is the perfect event offering elementary, middle school and high school students an opportunity to get hands-on experience in STEM education in the form of an affordable, fast-paced game. Students will learn to safely operate a drone, work as a team, and research workforce applications of aerial robotic technology; all while having a blast!
We are excited to announce the HPS Drone Club, open to 4th and 5th-grade students. This unique club offers hands-on experience with drone technology and the chance to compete in local and interstate competitions. However, this is not just a typical after-school activity—joining the Drone Club requires a high level of commitment from both students and parents.
Due to limited spots, students must apply to be selected. Selection will be based on academic performance, behavior, work ethic, and teamwork. Regular attendance at practices is crucial, and some practices may be held on weekends. Travel for competitions may also be required, meaning a strong commitment to both practice and events is necessary for all participants.
If your child is interested in this exciting opportunity, and you are ready for the commitment it involves, we encourage them to apply!
